What a cussing day.

So last night my cousin Nick came up for the afternoon/night to have some fun times. It turned out to be an expensive trip for him, he was fined...twice. Two hundred each one. Poor little human.
Anyway, we had such a fun and silly time, it was marvellous. I fell asleep on the floor at about 2 in the morning after writhing around the lounge room for a while, occasionally throwing a pillow or trying to smother Nick. And vice versa. Prior to this, we threw our own interpretive dance party out on the heavily gravelled road that is my street. It was quite incredible, let me tell you. We ate a lot of food, I drank a lot of aloc acoc, and we tried to watch a lot of things. Well, I tried, he did succeed, my eyeballs weren't agreeing with my brain.

So yes, this morning, waking up on the floor with a very sore backside, I got changed and decided that I would accidentally on purpose leave my flute at home. So I did, and that was fine. Clearly this sneaky decision had an effect on my day, as everything seemed to go hilariously wrong. The power of the flute. I'm tellin' yah. So I got my brother to take us to the train station, so Nikolai could go home, and I uni, and as we left the house and were halfway up the street, I remembered that I had left my folder on the table with all of the things I needed for the day, including the homework task that was due in an hour and a half, and was not yet started. So we pulled back into the driveway and I ran inside and retrieved the bastard of a folder and left the house once more. Halfway to the station, I realised that I had left my weekly bus ticket and my student concession card in my bedroom, and would now have to pay for transport for the day, which equated to almost $10 (but that has it's own segment). I sighed and knew that I would have to get over it, and I did. We were dropped off at the station, we ran to the top of the ramp and began to purchase our tickets. I rummaged through my bag, only to discover, no wallet! RIDICULOUS. I called my brother really quickly before he got too far and asked him to swing back around. So he did, I ran down the ramp, collected my wallet and then ran back up again. I purchased a ticket, and was in such a hurry, that I forgot to collect my ticket from the little chute that it spits out of. Goodbye three dollars.
I remembered this when we got to Central but I used dear cuzcuz's ticket because he didn't need it anymore, he was going further and further in to the realm of trains and their stations.
So I bought two tickets, one to get to uni and one to get from uni back to central. I lost the second one somehow and had to purchase a third ticket to replace that. I then fell asleep on the bus and missed my stop so I was late for work. Maaaaaarvellous. I am really quite tired. I might have a nap. In the meantime, get groovin'.

Sorry everyone, here is a song. That is amazing.

Bad Little Woman-Exploding White Mice

So, I went to my friend Mckenzie's gig tonight, I got home about ten minutes ago actually, I'm still dressed, shoes on and everything. It was really lovely actually. She is really quite a good songwriter and has an excellent voice (see what I did there?) Anyway, yes, when she has a website or something, I'll link all my keen followers to it. Erm, so I parked my car in the backstreets of the dodgy place where the gig was on, I know it well, but it's still a really scary place. I was a little bit late and I needed to run, but there were a couple of guys in front of me. And men scare me. So I went through the park really quickly but they saw me running and of course had to yell out and whistle and all the rest of it. So I kept running. I told Kenzie's stepmom and her pa once the gig finished and they very sweetly walked me back to my car, for which I was so grateful as there were a group of large men standing around the ute. The ute they would use to carry my daed body in after they killed me. Oi. Too many silly tv shows.
ANYWAY, where I'm getting to is, I kind of always had a feeling Justin (Kenzie's pa) would have excellent taste in music. So we were talking about that on the way to my car, and I was telling him about the doco on punk I watched and he was like yeah I liked all those bands and I also loved this local adelaide band Exploding White Mice. So I looked em up. Lo and behold. Here they are. Thank you for listening.

songadady

I'm On My Way-Dean Parrish

I think and am in fact quite sure that I have posted this song before, but it is just always so good and so relevant. My band, The Old Maids, played a small cafe gig tonight, and then when we finished we sat upstairs with another of our friends and ate and danced and listened to copious amounts of northern soul and garage music from the 60's. It was pretty marvellous. AND VELVET CAVE TOMORROW. BAHOOYEAH. Gonna shower and pin curl my hair. Bet you jelly.

SONG O THEE DAY.

You're the Cream of the Crop-Lee Rogers

Hobbes and I are actually going to organise a really stupendous northern soul night soon. We just have to get our northern soul record collection going and it is just going to be absolutely incredible. There'll be spinning. As in dance spinning. As well as vinyl spinning. And this tune WILL be played because it is just so cussing groovy! HYES. SO EXCITED.

Song of the day!

You Can't Judge a Book by the Cover-Bo Diddley

I think you're just going to have to go onto youtube and watching it. BUT FOLLOW THIS LINK. It's important. It's a great song. I went into a shop called Route 66 today and they had this song playing, I just kind of bopped around the store, not properly looking at anything because I was so excited to hear ol' Bo Diddlers. I had a 15 minute dance party at 1:30 this morning to Bo Diddley and got all sweaty and it was so fun. Everyone in my house was asleep. It was glorious.

What a day.

What a day.
It's always so good to get with Hobbes again. It's been about a week since I last saw her and today I was going to purchase a drum kit but the bastard sold it this morning without even telling me. Lucky I deleted his address in a fit of rage a week and a half ago, otherwise I would have never messaged him for his address, and he never would have let me know he sold it, and I would have driven all the way to the city and been a very disappointed human being.
So today, we just went through our records and played the ones we felt like. We danced and we ate and drank aloc acoc. It was so marvellous.

So much fun.

Now I am back on the hunt for music, which was obviously why my week last week was so terrible. BECAUSE I LOST SIGHT OF THAT.
But now, I'm back yah cusswits!!

HYES.

Skinnie Minnie-The Zettlers

Picked up this 7" from Lawson's for $15. It hurt my wallet a little bit, but then not at all, because I just could not leave this baby behind. Too good man, too good. It's really quite an excellent thing. The lyrics in this are hilarious. The guitar is actually brilliant. BRILLIANT.

Best thing about this place are the showers, worst thing is the visiting hours

Effing brilliant cover.

Marvellous

I Knew It Was OVer-Cat's Eyes

Now, I don't usually agree with the songwriting in Cat's Eyes, but I think this is pretty cussing brilliant. It actually moved me to tears. Mind you, that's not hard at my present state.

I just spent 40 minutes lying on the driveway, in the rain, inside a poncho converted garbage bag. Not a great moment.

Song of the day

This has been a pretty rubbish week. I had a meltdown in my car on the way to babysitting today. It was raining and it would have been quite hilarious had I not been the one who was being a sod.

This song basically sums it up.

I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry-Hank Williams

I got this on 7" at the record fair actually. With Cold, Cold Heart on the other side. Yay fun meltdown times. What a sap.
